Deana McGuffin is a third generation New Mexico bootmaker, hand-crafting wearable pieces of art. When she is approached by a Canadian artist and a San Franciscan tattooist to create a gay-themed cowboy boot, a story unravels of a unique collaboration that takes them to the heart of cowboy country in Northern Texas. 'Bootwmn' is a heart-warming, intimate and at times hilarious portrait of the queering of a traditional art form.

Sam McWilliams is a tattoo artist from San Francisco, California, with a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts in painting and drawing. Paige Gratland is a Canadian artist who studied film production at Ryerson University (Toronto). In 2013, they both traveled to New Mexico to learn the traditional techniques of boot making from third generation master Deana McGuffin. This experience inspired them to make the short documentary 'Bootwmn' about their mentor. 'Bootwmn' has played at over 50 film festivals in 9 countries including Hot Docs (Toronto), Frameline (San Francisco) and Outfest (LA.) and won audience awards in Seattle (US), Perth (AU) and Brighton (U.K.)
