DIRECTOR'S NOTE
After the release of my first short film, 'Lost Cause', about a man living with AIDS who struggles to navigate the phone system at his local AIDS organization, I was honored to receive the 2001 Peter S. Reed Foundation’s Filmmaker’s Grant. Reed, who himself died from AIDS complications in 1994, created the foundation to help advance the careers of his fellow artists. It was from this grant that I was able to make 'Boychick', which launched my professional career. 'Boychick' was made for every young LGBTQ+ person who has ever found the confidence needed to be themselves, to make a move, and to be fabulous by channeling their inner pop diva. It’s a love letter to the Britneys of the world who are way more impactful than they could ever know. I had a teen crush on a fellow student and wished I had my own imaginary pop star to teach me some moves!
