"Two years ago, I attended rap writing workshops in the heart of a fringe neighborhood. Nourished by their experiences in the city, the boys expressed themselves freely and honestly. They were forthright both in their commitment and in their attitude. Few girls dared to participate and when they did, it was by hiding behind their shyness and modesty, adopting masculine behavior through language and dress codes. One of them even had the boys rap her lyrics, not daring to face the gaze of others. This gap between them seemed to me from another era and yet it echoed my adolescence and my difficulty expressing my femininity in a working-class neighborhood." - Enrika Panero
